THE S.E.W. PROJECT

In conjunction with The Earhart Club, we have launched a companion project which we call the S.E.W. Project.

The S.E.W Project is a 25-year mission to reduce anxiety, depression, bullying, teen suicides and addictive behaviors by 90%. We believe that by helping children develop a true sense of self, meaningful connections with themselves, their peers and family, they will not need to look outside of themselves to fill the emptiness or to feel valued.

THE OPPOSITE OF ADDICTION

Many social studies have explored the causes behind addiction. Whether it’s to alcohol, pain killers, food, work or even exercise it seems the opposite of addiction is human connection. One of the leading causes of addictive and self-destructive behavior is a lack of deep, meaningful relationships. A sense of not belonging and of not being understood.

The key to loving and being connected to others is loving and being connected to yourself. We don’t teach this to children other than as an abstract idea. We teach them the mechanical steps to modern “success” (the end justifies the means) and unfortunately too often we tell our children who they are or who they should be, what they think and what they feel instead of asking who they are, what they think and what they feel and honoring their answer.

Our children’s first connection, their first reference point for who they are comes from mom and dad. In the context of The Earhart Club the mother/daughter relationship and the authenticity of this connection is predictive of the daughter’s level of fulfillment and her sense of self in relation to the world.
